Below is the report on our Wrasse hunt with only a 1/3 of the competitors giving in results. The Antrim coast has been decimated with uncontrolled Wrasse pots by commercial fishermen, to supply the farmed poison salmon that turn up in supermarkets and restaurants. We are fighting this at the moment with our fishery officer at meetings and in contact with officials in government.

Also in the gallery is a nice male cuckoo wrasse.

This weekend saw the ballan wrasse leg of the summer species league and while there was a better stamp of fish this year (with 6 over 40cm recorded), there still isn't the abundance of this species that there once was, particularly between Larne and Redbay.

We had 19 anglers manage to catch with top three as follows: 1st Paul Beggs 46cm 2nd Colin Reilly 43cm 3rd Diarmaid Adams 42cm Next leg is Pollack in July.
