Saturday 22 Feb saw the second leg of our 2025 shore league. Here's our recorders report.

Venue: Cushendun 1700-2200

Tide/sea-state: Fished one and a half hrs up and two and a half down on a nice rolling surf.

Weather: VERY mild with a light southerly breeze. One shower.

Species caught: whiting, coalie, pollack, rockling and flounder.

We managed a fine evening in between two fairly fierce weather fronts. It was so mild there was even a hatch of black flies just before dusk. Despite the nice conditions fishing was as expected for a calm February evening in County Antrim. Anglers worked hard to scratch small fish out of the gulley and at distance with small round fish making up the majority caught with a lot of them not making size. The deeper end of the beach at Zone A enjoyed the busier fishing with lots of little coalie and pollack appearing over high water.

There were a couple of pristine conditioned trout landed but unfortunately they don't count Mike Henry.

Zone A

1st Mike Henry 11 fish 276pts

2nd Barry Platt 10 fish 260pts

3rd Drew Ferguson 7 fish 192pts

Zone B

1st Christopher Mccook 6 fish 161pts

2nd Jonny Henry 6 fish 151pts

3rd Stephen Hodge 6 fish 149pts

Longest round fish 33cm coalie Barry Platt

Longest flatfish 29cm flounder Paul Beggs .

We had been contacted recently by a new business venture based at Garron point, The Shed Bunkhouse who have very kindly sponsored a couple of prizes.

Overall winner last night was Mike Henry who has won an overnight stay for two people at thier accommodation. It looks perfect for visiting anglers with one of our most popular rock marks literally across the road and a lot of match venues nearby.

Top rod at our next match on Carnlough will win the same prize. Thanks guys.
