This weekend past saw the conger eel and three bearded rockling

This weekend past saw the conger eel and three bearded rockling leg of our Summer species league and once again Mother Nature gave us a stinking weekend in the form of "Storm Betty".

Betty brought horrendous conditions which made most of the East Coast too dangerous to fish from rocks on Friday evening and most of Saturday.

Most of the competitors ventured to the North Coast between Ballycastle and Portstewart on Saturday evening where the wind was blowing off the land and conditions were a lot more comfortable.

A good few eels were caught with top three rods being

1st Christopher Mccook 135cm

2nd Paul Hill 131cm

3rd Barry Platt 128cm

Three beards were very thin on the ground which is unusual as they normally like the same sort of ground as conger and despite thier size can often take a mackerel head on a size 7/0 intended for bigger quarry.

Only two were recorded with top anglers being

1st Ali Wall 43cm

2nd Gary Mccurry 41cm

Our next outing will be for coalfish.
