#NIFSA member Karl Rooney finally got started on the sea trout. This is what he had to say about it Finally, after 12 blanks chasing them and 3 lost fish today before finally landing the smallest one. Off the mark with seatrout for the season. This one was on the dropper fly above a lt sandeel.
This is fishing on an industrial scale. Here is the account from #NIFSA member Gary Cummins Here's a video I took last Thursday from Millisle Co Down. I counted no less than 11 of these boats ripping up the seabed for clams in a couple of miles area, not a bit of wonder there's no habitat left for the fish.
Paddy on fire again. He must be stopped! Report by #nifsa recorder Barry Platt That's the species hunt over for another year. This year we ran it slightly longer than previous two years with a couple of extra species running it into the Autumn. We had 44 anglers paid up from the beginning though the number of participants fell away as anglers blanked certain species and inevitably fell out of the running for prizes. Some anglers like Mike Henry , Stephen Hodge , Brian Taylor
#NIFSA members Andy Logan putting our new mats to good use around the Belfast Lough area. A nice Tope and male skate. And Ian Leatham and Ronald Surgenor on the Huss and Smoothhound. Belfast lough seems to be the place to be atm.
Federation members are really on the fish this days. #NIFSA member Pamela Marten shows how it’s done by pumping out a nice 320lb tuna a couple of days ago. Fishing is starting to bubble up now, looking good for the next few months🎣🎣
#NIFSA federation members Jānis Liseckis and his partner Bai Ba had a nice session on the Smoothhounds and a wee bit of flattie tickling fitted in. Nice fishing from a angler who loves his and her fishing.
Big well done to #NIFSA very own Paddy O'boyle for winning a competition he went to on the Longfields section of the Foyle Estuary, run by the Foyle Angling Club. Fishing was very slow even though it was coloured up. Paddy came away with 7 flounders to win 1st place. This is the first session of our 2 dayer in 2 weeks time so hoping it fishes better by then. Paddy, you've cash to buy us all a pint now, no excuse!!
#NIFSA members Keith Nellins Riley and Skipper Logan had some great action off a mark in Belfast Lough/Irish Sea. Here is Andy’s account. Tried a new deepwater mark today hoping for bigger tope we lost a large female tope at boat side when she threw the hook probably the biggest ive seen around 40/50 lbs but we had a great day never a minutes rest over 30 spurs some good specimen spurs and half a dozen huss some nice ones too wind got up a bit in evening forcing us back insho
An excellent days angling for #NIFSA federation members on board the Lady Karen skippered by Paul Graham, himself a NIFSA affiliated charter skipper and federation member. If you are looking for Tope this year make sure you contact Paul Graham for trips out in the Lady Karen or NIFSA affiliated skipper and federation member Sean Mc Kay onboard the Lady Lynda. Karl McCullough takes up the story of how today’s events unfolded. Smashing day out on the tope with Paul Graham onboa
#NIFSA federation member Gareth Bell had a good day on the rays and dogs in some spectacular scenery. Fishing with his young lad Lucas they had a steady stream of fishing. What a session on one of, if not my favourite beach! 14 rays 2 dog and Lucas had 3 rays a double dog (he loves catching dogs)
#NIFSA member Tim Sexton had 9 Smooth Hounds to 1.2m on a Southern Beach on the outskirts of Youghal. Class fishing Tim 🐟 I had a dog knock first and then the rod hammered and I brought in the smoothound on the top hook and a dogfish on the bottom I had nine smoothound in total from 65cm to over 1.2 metres it was a busy session.
First it was Smooth Hounds and now we are getting a small run of Tope. Changed times alright! #NIFSA Federation member Drew Ferguson got onto them earlier this week on a North Coast beach. Great to see.
